Kyiv to Warsaw: VIP minibus or train? Time, price and comfort
Which to choose from Kyiv to Warsaw: how long the VIP minibus and the train take, what each costs, how the border crossing works and when each option suits you best.
Kyiv to Warsaw is one of the most popular international routes out of Ukraine. The two capitals are about 790 km apart, and you can make the trip by VIP minibus or by train. Here’s how to pick the option that fits your plans.
The VIP minibus: what you need to know
We run 9 departures a day from Kyiv to Warsaw in Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VIP minibuses: at 07:20, 08:30, 10:10, 12:40, 14:50, 17:20, 19:50, 21:10 and 23:50. The journey takes about 12 hours, and a ticket costs €195 one way (≈ UAH 9,945) or €390 return (≈ UAH 19,890). From Warsaw to Kyiv there are 10 departures a day between 05:20 and 23:50. Services leave from Kyiv Central Bus Station on Demiivska Square, stop in Zhytomyr, Rivne and Lutsk, and arrive at Warszawa Zachodnia bus station.
- there are just 8 wide leather reclining seats in a 1+1 layout, so every seat is by the window and by the aisle, there’s no neighbour right next to you, and you get far more legroom than on a regular coach;
- Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a power socket at every seat, plus water, coffee and a blanket on the way;
- our minibus crosses the border without waiting in the general queue, so arrival times are predictable;
- one piece of luggage up to 20 kg and hand luggage up to 5 kg are included;
- you choose your trip and seats on the website, then confirm and pay for the booking with our manager on WhatsApp or Telegram;
- children under 14 travel at 20% off.
Worth bearing in mind: the minibus has no toilet, so the driver stops every 3–4 hours. And even a wide reclining seat is no substitute for a berth in a sleeper compartment.
The train: what you need to know
There are direct trains from Kyiv to Warsaw as well as connections with a change in Przemyśl or Chełm. The direct overnight train takes about 16 hours; with a change it’s 15–17 hours, depending on the connection. The big advantage is that you can lie down and get a proper night’s sleep, and on the direct train border checks take place in your carriage.
The hard part is getting a ticket. International trains have few seats, and they often sell out in the first days after sales open. A berth in a compartment is usually cheaper, but if you change in Przemyśl you’ll need a separate ticket for the Polish train.

When the train is the better choice
- you’re planning a month or more ahead and can get a ticket;
- the lowest possible price matters most;
- you need to sleep lying down.
Tips for travelling by minibus
- travelling overnight? Take the 21:10 or 23:50 departure: you’ll sleep through most of the journey and be in Warsaw in the morning;
- want to arrive the same day? The 07:20 and 08:30 departures reach Warsaw in the evening;
- arrival times on the website are shown in local time: Poland is one hour behind Kyiv;
- travelling as a couple? Book two seats in the same row across the aisle, or one behind the other;
- bring a neck pillow, and finish any sausage or cheese before the border: you can’t take them into the EU;
- if you’re flying on, allow at least 4 hours between arrival and your flight.
